Circus, crafts storytelling & more!

Join us on Sunday 5th May for some fun shows and activities for all the family.

There are 2 sessions available: 12-3pm / 3-6pm

In the Main Hall we will have Symmetry Circus performing their show What’s Watt!?!

We’ll also have storytelling with local authors Paul Timoney & Terrence Casey, and we’ll have some very special interactive story time with the GOAL team as they take us through the Sustainable Development Goals.

Upstairs Mary Ahearne will be facilitating a craft workshop with three very special Bealtaine activities.

1. Beating Drums: A fun and creative activity where children can decorate a drum with their imagination and use it to make music.

2. Dancing Brideógs: Children can craft their very own vibrant Brideóg dancers to dress up for the fire festival.

3. Magic Staff: Children can create a mystical staff with shimmering bells and colorful ribbons, radiating an enchanting spirit of magic.

  • Aoife and Maria have been creating together for over 8 years, as a duo their work uses physical comedy in combination with circus disciplines such as acrobatics, juggling, skipping, unicycling , hula hooping and more. They enjoy storytelling and highlighting the relationship dynamics and struggles we encounter every day.

Maria and Aoife have studied science and engineering respectively, they created symmetry circus to create work which explores the intersection of art science and the beauty of the natural world.

Together they have performed internationally in Abu Dhabi, Lebanon and the UK noteworthy performances include - National Gallery of Art and Ideas London, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey

  • Terence Casey is a secondary school art teacher and hobby writer/illustrator.

He lives in Rosemount, County Westmeath, Ireland with his wife Stephanie and their three children, James, Charlie and Thomas.

The inspiration for his books comes from their garden and the animals they share it with.

“The True Adventures of Googly Eyes” and “Thumper- Journey to Animal Haven” are his first and second children’s novels from the Animal Adventure Books series.

  • I make poems, stories, pictures and things. I sometimes smush two or more of those elements together to form shows and workshops, or Art Experiences, as my friend Claire, suggested, and, perhaps it’s fair to say, insisted that I call them.

I have performed and facilitated at some rather fancy-schmancy venues such as The Abbey Theatre and The National Gallery Of Ireland (no less!) but I am more than happy to do things for anyone anywhere who might enjoy what I do.

  • I am an artist hailing from Westmeath, Ireland, who has a great passion for fine art.

I have devoted myself to my practice over the years, which includes a QQI Level 8 degree in fine art. Throughout my career, I have exhibited my work in various mediums.

I am committed to sharing my love for art with children and helping them develop their creative abilities while building their self-esteem. I offer a welcoming and inclusive space for children to feel comfortable expressing themselves and learning.

My approach to teaching art is both fun and educational. I use a variety of techniques and materials to inspire children's creativity, tailoring my lessons to suit each child's interests and abilities and encouraging them to explore their unique artistic style.

My aim is for my students to leave my workshops feeling fulfilled, empowered, and excited about the possibilities of art.
